Electric floor heating in the bathroom - installation with RAYCHEM T2Blue-10 heating cable
During a major renovation of an old house, I had the pleasure of installing electric underfloor heating in the bathroom. Due to the complicated and small shape of the room, using a traditional heating mat was not an option. Heating mats are embedded in a 50 cm wide grid, which in this bathroom would have resulted in cold zones where the mat could not be properly distributed. That's why the ideal solution turned out to be the RAYCHEM T2Blue-10 heating cable with a power of 10 W/m and a high mechanical strength of 1500 N.
Thanks to the flexibility of the heating cable, I was able to precisely plan its placement, ensuring even heating of the entire floor surface. The adopted heating power of 140 W/m² guarantees the comfort of a warm floor, which is especially important on cold days. What's more, this wiring arrangement makes electric underfloor heating act as the main heating source in this bathroom.
The bathroom will also be equipped with a wall heater fed from the central heating system, but during transitional periods, such as the cooler days of autumn or spring, running the entire central heating system may be unnecessary. Electric underfloor heating will successfully assist in heating the room, providing warmth and comfort.
The heating wires were sunk into a 20-25 mm thick screed, which ensures that the heat is evenly distributed throughout the floor. A concrete finish was chosen for the top layer, which works perfectly with the underfloor heating system, effectively accumulating and releasing heat.
Thanks to the use of RAYCHEM T2Blue-10 heating cable, the bathroom gained not only functional and efficient heating, but also comfort on a daily basis, regardless of the season. Proper selection of technology to the specific conditions of the room is the key to success - the end result fully met the investor's expectations!
